Breakfast of the gods
Our cocoa butter is made from cocoa beans of the Criollo variety, which is often referred to as the “king of cocoa”. It is the highest quality cocoa on Earth. Cocoa beans are the seeds of the tropical tree Theobroma cacao, which originated in South America. In Aztec culture, not only drinks and food made from crushed cocoa beans were valued. Cocoa beans were even used as a currency. Cocoa was introduced to Europe by the Spaniards already in the 16th century. The botanical name (translated as “the food of the gods”) was coined by the Swedish natural scientist Carl Linnaeus. Cocoa is also classified among the superfoods. It contains roughly 300 different substances.
