Baobab

The tree of life

The iconic tree of the African savannah, called the Tree of Life, is popular for its interesting shape and longevity. Its fruit is exceptional and has extraordinary effects. The flesh of the baobab fruit is white to yellowish, has a flavour resembling lemons and contains many healthy substances.
Baobab fruit is considered a superfood, a term for foods that have a high content of healthy bioactive substances.
The baobab we use at Rawito is full of sun – we exclusively use baobab that’s been sun-dried in the place where it was harvested. In this way it keeps most of its energy and nutrients.

Health benefits:

  • Baobab contains a lot of fibre (60%), which acts as an intestinal cleanser.
  • It promotes immunity and proper functioning of the nervous system and is a good antioxidant.
  • It’s excellent for regeneration and helps against fatigue and viruses.
  • It improves the digestion of starch and increases satiety. A high calcium content gives baobab the ability to promote good bone strength and density.
  • It also helps maintain the pH balance of the blood.

Vitamins: baobab has a high content of calcium, potassium, thiamine and vitamin B6. It also contains important sources of amino acids – lysine and isoleucine.
It also contains vitamins A, B and C, as well as the minerals phosphorus, iron, potassium, magnesium, zinc and calcium.
